He went all the way to Calvary for you and me
He didn’t stop along the way say I can’t do this today
He took every stripe upon His back every thorn in His brow
He did it all for us then and He still loves us so much now

He could have said no don’t ask me to go to the cross for a world in despair
Why should I suffer why should I die when it should not be my cross to bear
His heart of love took over and He said I will go
I’m so glad that He didn’t say no
