Jonni Hepler was born near Pittsburgh in McKees Rocks, PA. She is the youngest of two children, her older brother, Rob, being born 17 years earlier. Her first 3 years were spent in her parent’s hometown of Crafton, but at 4 years of age her family (minus Rob, who had left for college shortly after Jonni was born) relocated nearby to the more rural Oakdale, PA. She was blessed to spend her entire school life in the same school district with the same friends, and graduated from West Allegheny High School. Her father came from a very musical family, and in the 1930’s and 40’s played trombone with big bands in the Pittsburgh area. He also played with well known bands like Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey when they needed extra musicians for their bookings in the area. By the time Jonni was growing up, however, he had traded his trombone for choir directing in their local church, so Jonni was singing in church choirs from an early age. Later, after living in California for 5 years with Rob and his family, she moved to Flagler Beach, FL to live once again with her newly retired parents. She met John and Darlene in the church choir at Calvary Assembly and a few years later, Hope Street was born. Jonni met her husband, Larry, after he was contracted by the church she was then attending to build their new sanctuary. They were introduced by a mutual friend and married 6 months later. She has 4 stepchildren, Katie, Chris, Jenny, and Jonathan, and 2 grandchildren, Abigail, and Christian. In addition to Hope Street, Jonni is active with Larry in their own ministry, Hepler International Ministries.
