DARLENE CLEMENS
VOCAL

Darlene was born in the little coal-mining town of Herrin, IL. Her family moved often so she attended various grade schools, however, her entire high school years were spent at Limestone High School in Bartonville, IL. Darlene grew up surrounded by music. Her mother sang, wrote songs and played the piano. Her dad listened to the radio and sang many of the popular songs. Her grandparents played various musical instruments and loved to sing hymns. Darlene was born again at the age of 14 on the last night of Bible School. At 12 years old her little brother, Randy, also gave his life to Jesus that same night. She admits that she went to Bible School to eat chocolate chip cookies, drink red Koolaid and look at boys but God had a different plan in mind. After receiving Christ as her Savior, her grandmother shared with Darlene how she had prayed that God would show her the man she was going to marry. With Jesus and faith now in her heart, Darlene began earnestly praying that same prayer. When she was 15 years old, John Clemens walked into her high school Spanish class and God told her he would become her husband. Needless to say she was very excited but it took a little over one year for the two of them to become an item and the talk of the singing group they were both in called Rockettes and Rocketeers. After her graduation she and John became engaged and married the following year. They have two children, a son (Matt) who is a teacher in Ohio and a daughter (Monica) who is a teacher in FL. You may ask if their children are musical. The answer is absolutely! Darlene enjoys being in Hope Street more than words can express. She is thankful that God has given this group the ability to write many of their songs and to sing harmony that will bring hope to your heart. God began revealing His plan in her family many years ago and His legacy of music and faith are being passed down from generation to generation. Praise His name!
